Try a good old fashioned, "What's up?" You can add an optional, ":)" if you wan't to be flirty. You could also just say something random. Me and my crush do this to get each others attention. Are you eating a PB and J for lunch? Try saying, "PB and J for the win!" or something about what you're doing, or watching, or anything really. A good conversationalist can start a conversation out of the most random crap. One time me and my crush's conversation was getting stale and losing direction. I gave it a 5 minute break and sent, "This sun set is really pretty." It revitalized the conversation and we eventually started talking about her art, and we ended up texting up until 12 at night, with a good, "Good night. :)" as a finisher. Don't be afraid to be a little bit out there. Just don't be too crazy, lol.
YES!. please text the guy as for me I'm waiting to see if this girl will actually text me, I really wanna text her but I need to hold out for winter break, please just text him and the conversation will be chill, its not weird at all.
That would be ok! Or maybe just send a quick "Hey! :)". People text all the time. It's no big deal. ;) Just make sure you're interesting, and avoid sending vague, overused questions like "What's up?". Those are the worst! If things are getting boring, simply stop texting or find a way to end it. Try to never be the last one to send a text. Also, I try to never initiate a conversation twice in a row. If he's interested, just trust that he will send you a text. If he's not, it will be alright, because you didn't text him to the point of seeming desperate!

well if you like him, I'd say you should.someone's gotta take the first step. and maybe he'll also start texting you at random moments. but don't do it too often. you will seem..umm for the lack of words..desperate..?
