Why does she try to get my attention and then reject me?

I barely knnow this girl. We had a few very short 30 second convo's. But anyways, I asked her to lunch and she rejected me. I'm wondering why she would reject me when she always tries to get my attention by walking right in front of me and staring at me. She NEVER initiates a conversation(only hello's). But she honestly seems to put in more work to get me to notice her. She usually tries to get my attention when I'm sitting down. But when we're walking and passing each other she just keeps on walking when we say hi so I don't have a chance to start a conversation with her. I am REALLY confused.

Option A) She's an attention whore

Option B) Destiny has intertwined your fates

Option C) She's incredibly busy trying to provide (working/school/etc)

- So busy that she has no time for intimacy

Option D) She's lesbian

Option E) (And probably the most likely) there's an awkward vibe from you asking her out as a stranger. I've encountered this a lot and it's typically a result of being in the friendzone. Give it a few weeks and if she shows some signs of warming up, start from fresh. If she's still cold and short then maybe you saved yourself a lifetime of disaster trying to be the love-struck and lost puppy who always follows her around.

I find it interesting that no one has mentioned that you've only exchanged very short conversations.

Engage her in a conversation and find out more about her.

After a few of those, and if your still interested, then ask her out.

But I find it fascinating that neither of the girls that answered mentioned this - so I could be wrong ! But hopefully some girl will correct me if I am.

Maybe she just likes to be admired and she sees that you look so she flaunts her stuffs! But is not however, interested. :D

Or Maybe she thinks you're attractive but already has somebody, so she likes that you find her attractive too, but is not willing to initiate anything because she is already taken.

Or Mayyyyybe it only appears to you as if she's trying to get your attention because YOU noticed HER, but in reality she's just passing by and since you look she smiles to be polite and so forth.

Or she's playing hard to get. Which is probably less likely.

she walks past you and looks at you. and says hello and this makes you think she's trying to get your attention? she's doing what normal people do. she's not gonna burrow away in a hole and hide because she turned you down. I think your reading too much into it.
