Help me end a debate with a friend. Is it weird/nasty to eat pasta with ketchup?

I think a lot of stuff is weird but food items I do not. Each person develops there own taste for things. I personally love mustard on my chips and I drink milk with every meal and I mean every. I'm southern raised so we eat some questionable things. My wife is from the north and she won't even think twice about touching some of my food as I shrug my nose to some of that yank cooking. So nothing a person like is weird because all of us could name something we love to eat and someone is going to go really that's just weird

Sounds gross to me. Ketchup is such a common, commercial condiment. The flavor is not Italian. It's good on some things but pizza? I'm reminded of the cliche of someone ordering a meal at a fine French restaurant and then, to the waiter's horror, smothering the food in ketchup as if the food was prepared improperly. It shows lack of sophistication.
But, hey, whatever floats your boat.

THIS IS BLASPHEMY! Clearly your friend was raised by some sort of wolves because this is just wrong. Just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean it's right! Now that all of the decent human beings have clearly agreed with me, at the end of the day, if your friend is the only one eating it and they love to commit the mortal sin of placing bottled ketchup on spaghetti, then by all means, have at it, however I shudder to think that they may someday raise future heathens who also partake in this crime against food.

I don't feel that it's my place to tell other people what to eat, given that I categorically refuse to be told what to eat by anyone else, BUT I will say that, while eating pasta with ketchup isn't unheard of, it's considered "low class" or trailer trash food.

Its a kids thing. And their pallet isn't well developed or they just want to eat stuff that reminds them of childhood. 3 year old cousin its spaghetti with ketchup cause she doesn't like the tomato sauce. Yes ketchup is teqnicaly tomato sause with sugar ^^

Ketchup or tomato sauce?  I think it is okay... not the best choice but okay if no tomato sauce available. I also have my own weird combo: pasta with tomato sauce and cheese... weird but so delicious!

Yes I think its nasty only because I hate the smell of ketchup. But I work in food service and have seen people put all kinds of condiments on their food so who am I to judge. But Tabasco on pancakes!

I can't even see using ketchup as a base to make a sauce. it's too acidic, and if someone like it that way I feel it is because they have never had good spaghetti or pasta in their life.

Even though it's made from the same thing, ketchup has a totally different taste than spit-getty sauce. Personally I don't eat ketchup unless it's on French fries and even that is rare.
