Is it really true that alcoholic drinks served in places like pubs, have effectively become "gendered"?

Is this drink too "feminine" for a "real man" (whatever that is)?

I'll give an example of what I mean. Is it true (I don't know, because I don't go to places like that) that when someone orders an alcoholic drink in a pub/bar, if you're a man and order something very colourful and fruity with an umbrella in it (like what's in the photo above), you'll be stared at and expected to change your order, preferably to a scotch? Is this a cultural practice of some kind that only exists in certain countries?
