I'll give an example of what I mean. Is it true (I don't know, because I don't go to places like that) that when someone orders an alcoholic drink in a pub/bar, if you're a man and order something very colourful and fruity with an umbrella in it (like what's in the photo above), you'll be stared at and expected to change your order, preferably to a scotch? Is this a cultural practice of some kind that only exists in certain countries?
Yeah, I ordered sex on the beach and single malt on the rocks. Barkeeper was surprised as I grabbed the whiskey and my male accompany the red long drink. But the barkeeper was a smart guy and recognized really fast who has the pants on, despite I wore mini and served vodka red-bull and caipirinha correctly.

It always has been thay way! For example Scotch was always typically a male drink where a Martini was always typically a female drink. I used to be a bar tender up until 2019 did it on and off since 2012. Not sure how people have only caught on that alcohol drinks are gender based when it has been happening for years but at the end of the day it shouldn't matter what kind of drink someone drinks.
This is nothing new. It has always been the case that elaborately colorful, fruity drinks with frilly adornments have appealed more to women than men. So what? Men and women like different things, always have and always will. That's not a bad thing, it's just a thing. Why do we have to try to turn it into a bad thing?
There are general assumptions but I tend towards what would normally be called a girly drink.
I drink for flavour not just to get drunk and I find when drinking pints, they have too much liquid and too low ABV (4% ish).

Nah.
Alcohol is alcohol and money is money.
I don't care what some old guy at the bar thinks is the appropriate gender for my alcohol.Nothing like ordering a really girly drink then getting a guy to hold it and your handbag while you go to the toilet for ten minutes.
Yeah, but I like them girly drinks
So heck with them, I will even drink Scotch as a chaser with a girly drink.
Cosmopolitan is my favorite girly drink
there's always going to be a chad out there wondering why you're not drinking fermented barley water, but who gives a shit? Long islands and strawberry daiquiris are fucking delicious lol
Yeah but it doesn't matter and I'm an avid single malt drinker but if I'm having lunch or it's hot then I'll have something longer like a southern comfort and coke or cranberry juice or both
I have seen it and been criticized for ordering "fru-fru" drinks. Funny thing is my "fru-fru" has Bacardi 151 in it and thus has about 8 to 10 times the alcohol content as does the criticizing Bubba's beer.
Actually, I think it's getting better. I think it used to be much more gendered. People used to look askance at a woman drinking whiskey or a guy having a martini. I think it's easier now than it used to be.
I think normal drinks like beer, spirits and wines are for both genders, but anything which is a fancy cocktail is only for women or homosexual men. I don't make the rules, this is just my observation of society.
This isn't always true. That said, there will always be some people that look at others in the manner that you suggested. Get out and enjoy life a little more and make some of these observations yourself if you can.
There are some drinks that are more favored by women, and some drinks that are more favored by men.
Sure thing… 🙄
https://youtu.be/yicP7ZEEz1kI doubt if any bartender would care what you order, as long as you pay the bar tab at the end of the night,

people usually stare at me a bit... but they're wondering it is actually blood, or not...
Nope. If it tastes good I'll buy it. "Manly men" say weird things like that. I don't care if its beer, wine, hard alcohol, mixed drinks.
no. but if you're a woman, your drink is more likely to be paid by somenoe else xD
lmao guys just drink what you want. If I want a long island ice tea, mojito, tequila sunrise or vodka martini I order one.
What exactly is the problem? Women get drinks they like and men get drinks they like. Sounds right to me.
No. They have been for longer than I've existed! And for good reason.. Women get drunk far easier than men.
Notice most of the drinks they make for Females are more Elaborate and Guys drinks are more straight forward.
I’m man enough to drink fruity rum drinks and not give a fuck what anyone thinks about it
