Do you use it in your cooking? I do. In my opinion, it enhances the flavor of my food.
It's an artificial flavour enhancer. It's healthier to add a fistful of salt - a natural flavour enhancer.
Most food manufacturers are phasing it out as it has unhealthy impact on the digestive system, often in the form of constipation in smaller amounts and - bizarrely - diarrhea in large scale use.
I used an additive called "Aromat" here in South Africa that has it in, but only on sandwiches with tomatoes that are a bit underripe to bring out the taste. Generally I prefer to put them on a sunny windowsill for a few days to ripen up instead.

First off, it's delicious. Second, I don't go out of my way to avoid it and every Chinese food restaurant seems to use it so I would have to give up Chinese and that's not going to happen. I just limit my Chinese intake.

I'm here on Girls Ask Guys, sharing my culinary adventures and insights. When it comes to Monosodium Glutamate (message), it's a bit of a divisive topic, right? My take? It's all about moderation, like with any ingredient. message has a bad rap, but it's actually pretty common in many foods we love, especially in Asian cuisines, which are close to my heart. I do use it occasionally because, let's face it, it makes flavors pop 🎉. It's like the food version of turning up the volume on your favorite song. However, I try to balance its use with fresh and quality ingredients to keep the meals tasty and wholesome. So, yes, I'm in the camp that believes message can enhance food, as long as it's used wisely. 🍜✨

Some foods contain naturally small amount of glutamic acid, Tomatoes as example. Other foods like Vietnamese fish sauce, cured meat or cheese gain glutamic acid due bacteria fermentation. It affects neuro-transmitter, its metabolic products have a strong effect on breaking proteins in amino acids. In small amount is glutamic acid important for healthy nutrition but in gigantic doses which are added to industrially produced foods this stuff affects negatively hunger feeling. It causes an neuro-transmiter imbalance that leads some people to eat more than they really need.
I don't use it.
Just whats naturally occuring in ingredients. It’s considered dangerous or at least questionable in Europe. I always order my Asian takeout food without it.
High levels of ultra-processed foods linked with early death, brain issues
It "enhances the flavor" by making tiny cuts all over your tongue. You know when you've eaten something with message because your mouth hurts a little for the rest of the day.
Delicious, wish it was easy to buy here. There is nothing wrong with message, it's just like salt but better. As is the same with salt it's all good as long as it's consumed in moderation.
Nobody I know uses that, most Asian restaurants around here have a sign that says "no message" or it's on the top of the menu. There's only 2 seasonings you can buy at the grocery stores around here with message, Spade L Ranch and Cavendar's
hell girl, is this a joke? right? im confused.. i think its banned here uk
message doesn’t do anything to your body. It’s not harmful
No I don't use it when I cook that's really not good for you
I heard it gives people headaches and can make their face turn red.
No message for me!Although it's safe, I see it as a "cheat" so I try not to depend on it. I only use it as a last resort.
So it's like seasoning?
My opinion is that it is shit and not real food.
