Does this shy girl like me? She only acts nervous and shy around me?

I'm a college student (okay/good-looking, athletic). A shy girl at my college that I like always acts awkward around me (always smiles when I speak to her but never initiates conversations).. her shyness was what attracted her to me.

Whenever I see her in the hallways, she completely voids eye contact (and never says hello until I do).. I even noticed her staring at me from far away (after entirely avoiding me in the hallways)...
As we have mutual friends, I added her on facebook, and sent a greeting, but she hasn't even given me the courtesy to reply (we have met each other through friends many times, so I don't see why I don't deserve to be a good friend).

She's nice to all my friends, and treats all guys nicely, but is super strange with me, and always feels uncomfortable, always cuts conversations short whilst looking nervous.

I do like her, but I just want to be a good friend and get to know her.. I haven't even asked her out yet, I'm just trying to be a friend before anything but she won't even give me a chance.. She's got many male friends, but won't even give my friendship a chance... :( that makes me a bit disappointed..

I wonder what I've done wrong, I am not the pushy type (but I really want to get to know this girl, just don't know what her 'issue' with me is, I haven't insulted her at all)..

i can relate! i act that way with the guy i like... she definitely likes u or is attracted to u hence the awkwardness, and in contrast she's cool with other guys cause theyre just friends to her, but u are more...

there can be several reasons why she won't open up to u just yet, may be she thinks u dont like her... she doesn't wanna creep you out by acting all stalkerish, crushing on u hard, etc if a girl doesn't know a guy likes her she's gonna assume he doesn't see her that way unless u make it obvious ask her out and stuff... so she keeps her distance to not fall for u... may be she's also been rejected in the past or heart broken, hurt by another guy, she doesn't know how to act with u now may be has trust issues... also another reason is if u are flirting with other girls or are outgoing popular hot kind of guy she might be intimidated by u and think she has no chance, and the flirting with other girls makes u a player type so again she keeps her distance...

basically your solution is to reveal u like her or are interested give her special attention so she can trust u and have alone time like go out on a date thats really how u get to know them and build more of a connection, i think when people dont date thats when they end up playing games. the older we get, we have to make effort to be more direct, games and flirty stuff is for college and high school but as an adult u have to be straight forward u like someone wanna go out on a date.

I can tell she has confidence issues... but I never thought someone would be so shy that they'd ignore someone's Facebook friend request (I mean, everyone is friends with me, I am popular because I'm a sweet guy)... you maybe spot on, she's intimidated..

I wouldn't focus too much on Facebook no one really uses it anymore I didn't log on FB for 6 months then I deactivated I only use Twitter and Instagram now go by her how she is in person

Except for the part about the Facebook greeting. Even shy people generally feel confident enough to talk to someone from behind a screen, and if the guy in interested in sent me a message, I would totally reply!

Maybe you could ask her out - then you'd find out if she likes you or not.
It doesn't sound like things can get any more awkward anyway
