Nerd and geek are colloquialisms, there is no set definition. That said, considering that video games are incredibly mainstream these days, while science and math (especially as a hobby) are not, I'd have to say that science and tech and math (and history, and other kinds of academic things) are the real bastion of nerdiness. I know tons of people who play video games these days who are the antithesis of nerd.
