I was not criticizing dressing proactively (they have to compete with everything the media is putting out after all), all I want is to know why they do it. And why they are so intent on denying the truth. It's more about letting them know that we know (or guess or assume or whatever) and it's okay.
And how did that make you feel? I'm just reading a great book, The Schoppenhauer Cure, in it a character, Rebecca, during group therapy, brings up a memory of that when she enters restaurants/rooms now men would no longer turn around to look at her and how she felt that this took like part of her personality away. Anyway, a thought experiment: how would you feel if they started to ignore you? (this book was written by a man, how true would that be?)
That makes sense, a lot of people crave attention. When it happens to me I honestly don't care but I think it's because I'm just a careless person. Sometimes it's scary but a lot of the time I can't help but laugh.

Nothing wrong with dressing good and making yourself feel good! ;-)
Of course not, I just wish to explore the reasoning behind it... and more honesty.
Everybody likes to feel sexy, that's no mystery.
That's not the mystery. The mystery seems to be why. My wish is simply that people would be more honest with themselves.
A mixture of seeking attention and looking to be accepted by society since they think that's what men want based on the media.
the world doesn't conform to your conservative morals, dope..
What conservative morals?
your own. but i'm not bothered either way..

I've been "harassed" in street clothes. NOW WHAT?
And how did that make you feel?

I see, would be interesting to have a followup on this when it actually happens.
Because why not?
Hahaha, yes, why not indeed. So long as they don't mind me looking anyway :D
Note that everything we do isn't always for men.
Our genetic makeup hasn't changed much in the last couple of centuries, so pretty much all our endeavors are geared towards reproduction.
So my birding is to attract mates? I don't want to attract a senior citizen mate ahahaha
Birding? If you meant preening, yeah, it's meant to attract attention.
No... no. Ornithology. Bird watching. Birding. Not grooming.
A combination of 1 and 2.
Makes some women feel good about themselves
Exactly, but what about it makes them feel good?
To feel sexy and confident.
... for themselves?
What purpose does it serve for themselves?
It empowers them
How?
