you said that you feel like guys never notice me, but you also said that you set your standards too high.
Does this mean that guys notice you, but your standards being high, you don't notice those guys?
Do no guys approach you at all, or only guys that are under your standard? Because if they are under your standard, then yes, your standards may be too high.
Also, guys will always notice ANY attractive girl. This nonsense that guys do not notice shy girls is ridiculous. The only reason that you are not noticed for being shy is if you never leave a library, or your home. Basically somewhere where NOBODY WILL EVER SEE YOU! If you are attractive AT ALL guys will notice you.
The problem is that boys will read YOUR BODY LANGUAGE and your eyes and see if YOU GIVE THEM AN OPEN TO COME TALK TO THEM. Very confident or forward guys will come talk to any girl, even if she is not asking for attention, but that is only for every pretty girls.
So basically, if you are attractive, which seems to be the case from your mini avatar pic thing, then you just need to give a guy some pretty strong eye contact for like 5-10 seconds and you will be fine.'
Why don't you talk about your friend that always has a boyfriend so that myself or other people can compare you two and tell what she has or is doing that you are not doing!

by the time he's been around you long enough for you to be outgoing, you've just friendzoned him or he friendzoned you.
sometimes it's exhilirating to step out of your comfort zone.
Here's a thought. Lets assume a guy likes you, but you're too shy to even look at him. He construes this as 'I'm nervous, buzz off' and buzzes off.
love is a two way street. If you want a guy to come to you, you have to send an invitation at least. If you're too shy to talk upfront, eye contact works pretty well if you like a guy... It seems to work the same way from guys to girls too
Some could be attracted to you and may not know how to approach you because they can imagine how youd respond

Dont be over eager, because you will come across as desperate and only one type of guy like these type of girls, and their the ones who will end up using you, but be confident about yourself, if your confident but not looking, guys will notice your talents and they will approach you, and they will be worthy blokes, not losers, so just be a little patient and wait for a worthy bloke of your talents to get you to notice him, good luck,x
I think you can be shy and men will still be attracted to you. The most important thing is to show that you're interested and to show that you think he's attractive. That can be hard to do when you feel overwhelmed because you don't know him. Next time an attractive man talks to you, try to forget all about all the unknowns and stick to what you do know: is he attractive? is he your type? does he look good?... some advice that I should probably follow myself when it comes to girls :)
Be approachable, don't mad dog, look stuck up, or act conceited. Your shy, and that's how some shy girls appear when you don't get to talk to them and get to know them. Smile, be friendly, and compliment them.
