Being a tomboy is sometimes just a phase. A lot of pre-teen girls want to be special so they claim to hate pink and girly stuffs, then you never know who’s a true tomboy and who’s just an attention seeker.
Tbh I don’t believe in the tomboy thing. I sometimes preferred to wear pants when I was a little girl cause I’ll feel more comfortable in them, I loved playing video games, had a Spider-Man and Superman poster in my room, and I sometimes fight with boys and beat them up, and I loved action movies but I also loved girly stuffs, barbie, and had a lot of girl friends, and no where was I a tomboy. I’m more girly now that I grew up, and I find love stories to be lame ( which can be classify as a tomboyish thing) but I also love pink and girly aesthetics.
We can’t truly be classified. Your cousin may be a tomboy now but she probably can love something girly.
I was a huge tomboy until I hit puberty, and honestly, most girls at my high school were on the feminine side as well. I didn't even see true tomboys until I got to college. I think they are born that way.
Your raised that way. Sure the female side of the the family aren't afraid to to go topless and wrestle alligators cuzed that's how they're rsised. And there also has to be a form of a tomboy dna strain inherent from great, great grandma's?
Its more bound to happen if a girl grows up with 2 or more brothers around. My cousin for example is one. She grew up with only a father and 3 brothers.
Pretty much the same as being born homo sexual or hetero sexual. i know i always loved certain things. Same with being a "tomboy"

Growing up, I’m always surrounded by my feminine sisters (I have 2 older sisters). As a result, people have told me that I’m kind of feminine in the way I talk and act (I’m a 100% straight though).
So yes I truly believe it’s because of how they are raised/their surroundings.
How you were raised. I have many brothers and I grew up playing outside with boys up until 2nd year of middle school. I grew out of it but I still have a few guy friends ✨
Now being a tomboy doesn't mean they are not at all far from it I've dated a gorgeous girl back In my early 20s and she love everything she could do with a man I mean everything
I believe both can happen. Can be genetics. Some woman are born warrior princess. Some have to be environmentally conditioned either by there own choices, or this cold hard world beats then till they are tough as nails or crack. Peace.
I think it's an unconscious benifits/cost analysis.
Based on the environment and the people they are surrounded with

I think raised into it, most women who are really feminine they had a strong support from a father figure in their lives. Most women I met who lacked father figures, or who was abusive or absent in some way most turn to be less feminine, I think its a way for them subconsciously to take charge of their lives because no one will hand them anything, so they have less concerns with drama and women's pettiness

Same goes for men, if guys raised with extermly loving family that handed them everything they turn soft.
Once I read Lego and airplanes knew she wanted to go into engineering, that's great for her. Tomboys are more confident in themselves than other girls.

Mostly genetics, partially upbringing... it's a combination (about 70:30).

My cousin started way back (way before pre-teen years) during her toddler years.

Same as sexual orientation, it's fixed at a young age and can't be changed. Forcing such girls into dresses won't do anything but make them unhappy.

Tomboys are great. Environment obviously plays some role, but it wouldn't surprise me if being a tomboy is partly heritable.

Hard to say. One can be a tomboy and a girly girl at the same time.

I think it’s both with more influence from your environment.

I grown to around more male friends since they all have a learning disabilities and become more tomboy. Loves buses and trains and video games.
I would say a little of both.
Born with those traits and raised allowing those traits to stay up front.
I too, find tomboys interesting.

one or the other or both
I like tomboys by the way
