Strong masculine facial traits are an expression of strong sexual hormones.
A physiological trait doesn't need to have an explicit use, it's simply just the indicator of genetic quality of the individual.

Basically, the more "manly" you look and sound, the more dominant male sexual hormones you have.

Sexual hormones are tied with things such as fertility, sperm quality, skeletal muscle structure and so on, but those traits are not immediately apparent, so other traits (such as facial structure) exist solely to telegraph them.

It's a masculine trait, therefore more desirable. What is the evolutionary advantage of birds with bright feathers? They attract predators and are more easily spotted, and vulnerable, especially during displays. The lady birds like the most brilliant though.

Also those pics change a lot more than just the jawline, but yeah a strong jawline will be more attractive than a weak one, just like a fit body is more attractive than a weak one. What is your point?

If you look at Disney cartoons the male hero always has a strong chin and the villain a weak or pointy one. Similarly real life actors are cast according to facial features. By the time we've hit puberty we're already brain washed into what's hot or not
