Why does this girl act so confusing 😕?

Hey so I've liked this girl and they always use to act like they like me randomly come up to me and say hi max view my stories within a minute stare and smile at me 24/7 look at me and flick their hair so many things I know it's hard to tell what that means just from saying it cos if I stare and smile at an old women it doesn't mean I like them but you can sense in what way it's meant they would look at me when others girls were speaking to see my reaction. It was very clear they liked me but then I had social anxiety about it looking like I like someone else so I would go Red when other people were speaking etc it looked like I liked other people they seemed upset stopped staring and smiling at me stopped viewing my stories within a minute so decided to message them and say I like you and I know I've came across weird I unsent and resent this message a couple times as I was nervous they now said to my friend that they don't know why I messaged them that they never liked me that they don't like me and they think that I'm weird there response is especially mean which is weird and its dishonest like they said its weird I said hi to them when they started a lot more conversations with me I really don't know what to do I don't want people believe a lie and I'm so confused please help me lol
