most people dont have the balls to say the shit they do online irl, plus i think it's just easier to be mean when you can't see the person and when there's no consequences socially for you being a dick. like if no one knows who you are it won't make people that you know not like you. so i think for most assholes online irl they're not as bad at least on the surface level. but then obviously some people are just as bad irl and online
personally can be slightly ruder or meaner more easier online because it won't make me look bad in real life and i have less empathy when i'm looking at a screen and not at a real person

Going anonymous reduces accountability. And blocking is much easier online, so it doesn't matter how you've behaved. At least that's how some people think.
Personally, I feel you should be same online and offline. I'm cold and cynical, whether you ask my neighbour or my online bestie.
I act exactly the same on and offline. The difference is online it’s a lot easier to see many different topics whereas offline the topics are more narrowed to what we are doing or going. Maybe online is cancerous. And people are easily offended, not an inch of thick skin on their body.
Because their is nobody their to force you to be yourself.

I try to be nice everywhere, but bad drivers, like those that sit at green lights looking at their phone, I don't even bother honking at. I assume they are a disabled vehicle and drive around them.
I act pretty much the same online and offline as well. Some people do act very different to their offline counterparts. So maybe those are the people they're talking about.
