Girls, Why does this girl act so differently around me?

We talked for a bit a while ago and she does have a flirtatious personality, but recently she’s been quiet around me maybe and/or won’t look me in the eye sometimes. I complimented her a lot so I kinda stopped for a bit too. Whenever I’m around she gets quiet real quick. She also looks down whenever i look at her as well. She still says hi to me. The other day when we were clocking out she waved bye and said hi to me as well even though I ignored her most of the day. I’m not sure if she’s just being nice which is fine with me or she actually likes me or just likes the attention I gave to her a while back. Does she like me or am I just being dumb?

Two (or three) things could have happened, there's not enough information in your post to guess which one might be more likely. She does sounds shy/self-conscious though, so I think the information you'll get from just observing her may be limited. Are both of you single? If yes and it won't create any awkward situations, just ask her out and see how she responds to that.

Otherwise, here are the 3 most likely explanations (in my opinion anyway):
1, She realized you liked her, but she doesn't like you in that way. So she's trying to avoid being too friendly right now, to make it clear she's not interested. I think it's possible but the least likely since she's still saying hi / bye without it being totally necessary.

2, She likes you, but isn't sure about how you feel and feels the same way you do now "does he like me? yes? no? Why hasn't he asked me out yet if he likes me? He probably just thinks of me as a friend".

3, She found out something about you that makes her feel uncomfortable.

Well, i told her I liked a lot and got rejected. She said she was talking to someone else and wanted to remain friends. The weirdest thing is she said I can vent to her and she's always there for me. I know i shouldn't read into this but this seems a little fishy to me. Usually, when a girl rejects a guy they don't want to be friends. I know she might just being polite and/or friendly but i feel like im going to be used at some point. Should i just stay friends with her or should i not?
