Was friends with this girl (I'll call her Jane) for about a year where through a misunderstanding she friend zoned me. In recent months we started hanging out regularly to the point she started opening up more and initiated things like making dinner and asking me to help her move and introduced her parents.
Jane became distant after that and I reached out to her asking what was going on and she was vague and said she was just busy with work. The following week when we met up at a general setting (we have lots of overlapping friends) she totally ignored me and I could tell was super upset so I just left it as I couldn't figure out what was going on. The weirdest was when she noticed I was being friendly with this one girl (I'll call her Miranda) she started talking to me again but only for that one night.
After a month later or so she reached out and apologized for misleading me and only wants to be friends. She also said her parents didn't like me but I thought they did but it's been over a month so what would I know? Regardless she still ignored me for most of the time after that.
Several days later at another event I noticed she was super mad at me again so I just kept my distance and hung out with Miranda whom we've been hanging our regularly. Jane pulled me aside and demanded to know why I thought her parents liked me and accused me of lying when she asked her parents and they said they never said or gave any impression despite me spending almost the entire day with her family. I didn't want to argue but I said it's been over 2 months and whether it's true or not wouldn't have any bearing on the situation as I kept it to myself and never acted on it. She then said we shouldn't be friends as I was being manipulative and I said sure. I'm not sure what her reason for nuking the friendship when the facts would point out she hasn't been treating me like a friend anyways.
