My boyfriend is only sexist towards women outside me and his friends and family why?

So my boyfriend I’ve learnt listens to a lot of people and comedians who are quite sexist towards women and thinks things like abortion is murder, we are too emotional, she was asking for it etc.

But he’s always respectful towards me and all women in this family and friend circles. So I’m so confused why he watches such things and has similar beliefs.

Why does he have distain for women in general but not for women he personally knows and loves?

Well, this sounds to me like that’s not necessarily sexist. Abortion has deep held beliefs, some of which are religious in their foundation and held by as many women as men in my life experience. Interpreting that belief as sexist seems flawed if a woman can also hold that belief.


As for the rest, some people can just accept humor for what it is. My wife is an immigrant and yet can laugh (and often makes jokes) at her own race. My team at work shares an uncommon bond and constantly cracks joke at or about one another (the only agreed upon things off limits being spouses & children - everything else is free game!).


If he actually treats women poorly, on the sole basis of being women, then maybe you should be concerned.

Lol, good quotes. I am surprised to see POG (Person Other than Grunt) there. I guess that was in the movie. Not many outside of the US military, specifically the Infantry or combat arms units, know that term I would think.

Iirc, the movie doesn't use the term, I got it from IMDB, when I was looking for that character's name. I am not sure the term is fair in the scene, since that character was with his troops, inspecting a PAVN/VC massacre instead of being safe in the back area. From watching We Were Soldiers I also get the impression that a colonel in the midst of action is not such a rare thing either? I mean, the term "armchair general" makes more sense to me.

Yes, I did serve, in the artillery with M109s with 155mm shells which Israel is using right now as I view the news. It also has tactical nuke capability which I expect they won’t be using.

Someone I spoke to was infantry and he informed me that artillery and tankers are acceptable POGs but not others. Some definitions for it are for all combat arms but the infantry get a bit pissy about non-infantry which the term POG truly encompasses in their mind.

Not to mention the war in Ukraine, where they have 150+ M109s in active combat!

I seem to notice this weird competitiveness between the military branches, where only the own branch are the true and real soldiers and everybody else is a pussy. That never made much sense to me.

My fellow artillerymen and I used to say, the only thing worse than the artillery is the infantry. They did have it harder. We slept in the mud too though as did tankers, as well as were combat arms units so that's why they respected us. Even though we would make fun of other units and services, we did actually respect them and what they brought to the fight. They are needed or they wouldn’t be there.

Also, abortion is murder… but unlike the others.. I don’t meddle in other peoples lives… I personally wouldn’t want my SO to have an abortion.. however, I’m not telling someone else what they should do. They will suffer the consequences of there decision.
