So my boyfriend I’ve learnt listens to a lot of people and comedians who are quite sexist towards women and thinks things like abortion is murder, we are too emotional, she was asking for it etc.
But he’s always respectful towards me and all women in this family and friend circles. So I’m so confused why he watches such things and has similar beliefs.
Why does he have distain for women in general but not for women he personally knows and loves?
Well, this sounds to me like that’s not necessarily sexist. Abortion has deep held beliefs, some of which are religious in their foundation and held by as many women as men in my life experience. Interpreting that belief as sexist seems flawed if a woman can also hold that belief.
As for the rest, some people can just accept humor for what it is. My wife is an immigrant and yet can laugh (and often makes jokes) at her own race. My team at work shares an uncommon bond and constantly cracks joke at or about one another (the only agreed upon things off limits being spouses & children - everything else is free game!).
If he actually treats women poorly, on the sole basis of being women, then maybe you should be concerned.

Do yourselves both a favor and split up. You’re only going to judge him and (as you already are) and eventually dislike him simply for his choice in comedy or podcasts, and he will grow to resent you and your policing of his entertainment. The result? He becomes a shell of himself, silently hates you, and jerks off while thinking of someone else.

Also, abortion is murder… but unlike the others.. I don’t meddle in other peoples lives… I personally wouldn’t want my SO to have an abortion.. however, I’m not telling someone else what they should do. They will suffer the consequences of there decision.

Just an opinion but he might be a hypocrite and two faced. It sounds to me this sexist view is how he really feels about women.
