Why would a girl lie about where she is?

So this is not my girlfriend or anything it’s just a coworker that seems to like me (flirty, teases me, playfully punches, orbits me at work, etc…) but is also a bit hot and cold over text. Anyway this weekend she asked me what the move was for Halloween so I told her what I was planning and she told me she was planning on going into the city on Saturday.

Well she ended up not going out Saturday but today I asked her how the city was anyway just to see what she would say and she gave me a vague “it wasn’t too bad”. The only reason I know she didn’t go was because she lives right next to me

Under the assumption that she DOES like me, what would cause a girl to lie like that? I’m pretty sure she’s also got other guys she talks to so my assumption is that she probably had one over or something of the sort or maybe she just didn’t wanna seem lame not going out. I’m curious as to what y’all think

Hmm that is kinda weird man. A few possibilities I could see:

- She was probably talking to some other dude and changed her plans to hang with him instead of going out like she said. Didn't want you to know.

- Could be she was at home alone and didn't want you to think she was lame not going out. Easier to fake like she had plans.

- Maybe she's just not really that into you and wasn't feelin hanging out if you suggested it. Lied to avoid an awkward convo.

- Some girls are just flaky like that sometimes. Tell white lies without thinking about it.

If I were you I wouldn't make a big deal of it. But I'd also be a bit less trusting of what she says going forward. Let her come to you more instead of chasing. She's showing mixed signals - play it cool like you've got other options too so she doesn't think you're just waiting around for her. Don't directly call her out on the lying either. Just act like it doesn't phase you. See what she does next.

I’d say this. That’s a leap to assume she lied to you. Maybe she went out and maybe she didn’t. Maybe she’s not comfortable telling you what happened that night. It could be a lot of reasons too. She didn’t like the way her costume looked and is embarrassed by it. She felt sick. She is getting over somebody you know nothing about and found out they were where she was going to go. She got her period. She suddenly felt insecure about wearing something. She had an argument with a friend. Her ride fell through. Geez man. Just leave it alone and move on. We are never entitled to 100% honesty from anybody. People should be able to keep their own personal secret as just that.

why do you assume she is a liar

maybe something happened or came up... so she changed her plans and one thing is for sure, she does not owe you any explanation about it...

just stop assuming all kinds of stuff about her, that's weird... lol
