How important is physical strength for a man to be attractive?

Most ordinary men aren't very strong and don't know how to fight. Even the ripped guys in the gym usually can't fight. So if it ever came to the situation of defending one's family from actual physical violence, like from a gangster or robber or something, they wouldn't really be able to do much.

Women often say they want tall, strong guys do they can "defend" them from bad people, but in real life that scenario isn't going to play out, no matter how ripped and badass looking the guy is. Are most women consciously aware of this?

I prefer metabolic efficiency over power and stamina in a guys appearance and athletic ability. I’ve liked guys that if they were female, would be wearing size 4 clothing. I’ve also liked guys that were tall and obese. I think guys need to relax and not worry too much that girls don’t like their bodies. Girls often see nice guys through rose coloured lenses.

Strong doesn't mean always in physical strength but in mental, emotional strength is much more important. Fighting is good attractive but a mature women would never want their partners to end up in jail or something like that so when they say that men should be able to protect them it's in term if by providing him a good life, by using his wit to avoid/tackle trouble, by standing strong mentally emotionally during tough times so they can feel safe around them.
