My brother's wife doesn't seem to like me.

Well, my brother and his wife are both 24, they've been married for 2 years and they have a baby girl. His wife is a nice enough lady but I'm certain she doesn't like me or she has something against me. My brother has said that she often talks negatively about me to him and of course this bothers him because we are very close. She even once called me a "f***ing whore" (um, which I'm not), in front of me at a family gathering. I know that this is creating a rift in their relationship and I feel terrible about it. Should I confront her directly about this issue to see what's really going on? My brother won't talk to her about it.

if you can confront her without in a non-argumentative way, then go for it. that's pretty tough in this kind of a situation, though, so just be careful not to get into an argument and create even more tension between you two.

if I were you, I'd say something along the lines of "I realize you're not too crazy about me, and I'm not sure why, but I just wanted to confront you about this because I would really like to be able to get along with you"--you know, something non-accusatory.
