Guys, do you put your hand on a girl's waist to show you are interested?

I have known this guy friend for years now, we fell out of contact for a while and then just started talking again a few weeks ago. yesterday we were hanging out and as he dropped me off at my house we had a long hug which was really nice. after we stopped hugging he put his hand lightly on my waist as we talked for another minute before I went into the house. Is this a sign that he may like me? It's just hard to tell if he is being friendly or flirting because we are good friends. thanks for any answers!

for me I lightly trail my hand down her side after a hug, if I like the girl.

if he was facing you with his hand on your waist, I would say he wanted to kiss you (sounds like something I would do)

it can be really hard, someone like me for instance, doesn't take a hint.

i would maybe take half a step closer, look from his eyes to his lips, don't flick from one to the other too fast it looks strange and it puts pressure on him to kiss you.(can make guys nervous)

maybe put your hand on his arm that is touching you, if you do all of that it should be pretty clear you want him to kiss you.

failing that you could just make the move.

i feel like the two of us are circling if that makes sense. Like he is using very sweet ways of saying things, a little different from before we fell out of contact. I matched his way of speaking, trying to test the waters I guess. I'm not sure how he feels about me and he seems a little nervous at times, I don't think he knows how I feel. his touch on my waist was really light, cautious in a way. but he seemed happy when I didn't think it was weird of him to do that :D

Friends don't put arms around waists! Especially after a long hug. He put his arm there because he wanted to stay in close contact with you for as long as possible!
