Why does he always give me a hard time?

Ok, So this guy is in my program and he seems to always be rude to me. I've never been rude to him, I always help him with school work and due dates, and we always hang out with other friends. I find that he is very rude and disrespectful towards me, no one else. He'll call me names or just say something that is totally inappropriate. Sometimes I'll say something and then he'll pipe in and make me feel stupid for talking. It's gotten to the point where I no longer want to help him with anything or even talk to him some days. Why would he be so rude to me? After all the help I've given him? What reasons would a guy have to just be rude to a female friend?
