After thousands of years of men slapping asses instead of shaking our hands and looking at our tits instead of our eyes, not to mention zero rights to property or children, women now have the divine right to dress and groom themselves however they want. End of story, get over it, guys.
The best I ever dressed/made up was when I was in a stable long distance relationship and had virtually 0 male friends/acquaintances. The time and effort I put into myself was solely for myself-not for some guy. Bc 80% of the month, the most my guy would get was a video call. When I shave though-in the summer I do it for myself (bc my skin will be on display in summer clothing) in the winter (when I can cover myself in warm clothes) I do shave mostly for my boyfriend.
I wear make up because i think its fun to put on and it makes me feel pretty. even when i'm not going anywhere, I put it on to practice or just because i'm bored. As for nails or hair, I never get stuff and think "oh i need this hairstyle so guys can find me attractive" I get things done because I like it. Of course I want to look pretty for guys. But guys aren't the PRIMARY reason i wear what I wear
I believe this post is for that guy who just want to change the girl to what he thinks that is good, cuz if a guy just comments that you look beautiful without make up, he's not saying you have to stop using that, there is no need to make a fight over this...
Ugh, come on. The majority of both women and men want to be more attractive to impress guys/girls. I understand that maybe you, and some other women wear make-up etc. "for themselves", but let's be honest, I cannot believe what you're telling me if you're trying to say that every girl wants to be attractive "just for themselves". That's ridiculous.
I guess for guys to believe a woman looks how she wants to for herself would be in 2 cases. 1. If she was covered to the point only her eyes were able to be seen. 2. If she let any part of herself go. Examples: nails over grown, never got ride of body hair, did not wash herself, never gets her hair done meaning messy all the time, nasty teeth etc.
Great! As a free male, I am not required to find your 'wings,' absurd fingernails, over drawn RED AF lipstick, color contacts, dumb tattoos, high waisted trousers, etc attractive regardless of what *insert feminist blog here* and *Riley Dennis* DEMANDS we do. Seems like a good trade to me.
Stop using the term "boys not men" as some kind of derogatory thing... it's crap and makes no sense. ANYway, I'm a boy (there's no such thing as a difference between boys/men and girls/women), and yeah you're absolutely correct, it's mostly about making themselves feel pretty. Which is totally fine.
Wow, I'd love to jump in here Boy. LOL You embody exactly what she was typing about. Be a man and accept the truth of what she wrote, & that is my.02 Cents ;)
i don't groom for myself; i groom so i look socially acceptable to society, both men and women, not in a romantic way necessarily but in a "she's not a freak" way
Is it so bad to do things in order to be liked by others? Is it so bad that I hate going to the gym or do any kind of physical activity but I still do it because I realized I had much more success after losing weight? Is it so bad to want to attract someone?
Men can't wear clothing that exposes their sexual parts in public without society giving them comments or shame, why do women feel they are entitled to be exempt? Especially in public around children.
It's done for fashion, and that's still 95% a man's world, so it IS done for men.. just not personally for their bf's or their own male friends, unless those friends are big time fashion designers!
I think we all dress up for BOTH others and ourselves. We wear things because we like it and want to feel confident, and at the same time we wear stuff so others will find us attractive.
I really liked the straightforward disclaimer. But lets be honest, its always about attracting people, mostly the opposite gender. At least thats what my girl and a few of her friends think.

Plenty of women groom themselves to impress guys, similarly plenty of guys put effort into their looks (working out for example) to impress women.
You're so out of touch with reality it's comical.

You said "unsolicited comments and malicious advice"…
I subscribe to the "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" rule.
But compliments would technically fall into the unsolicited comments category. So this is a bit confusing as advice.
I'm not talking about a workplace "compliment" like "Nice rack!" here, but I hope "Wow, is that a new outfit? You look great!" is still OK!

I now understand why guys are assholes to women these days. :(
why do you say that?
That's only part of it. The other part is that's how we get laid.

This is false
Most women shave because of men and because they feel pressured to do so
Why do you think many don't during the winter
Actually, most women in the world do not shave. Shaving is a European concept of beauty that women usually do just because it's a societal influence.
@Elarra because of men
When perpetuating the feminist narrative has made you so self righteous you've lost touch with reality.

@Charly_79 Perhaps you should look at how women have responded to what she wrote for insight.

No, but you have to understand that this is what you think... Some people may think different than you...
@JhonnyMA Exactly my point.
