Here is a tip to be happy and free in life : stop caring about what others expect of you. What you see as advice in this myTake I just see it as a way to make some men feel bad about themselves just because they don't have at least one of these things. I suggest those men to stop caring about these standards, to pursue their dreams, what make them happy and you will find the partner that fits you eventually.
Don't try to fit into boxes to appeal to people because you will only attract people who are attracted to these boxes and, if you had to make yourself fit into these boxes in the first place, it means that these boxes are not your real self. If you are not your real self in life, you are bound to be unhappy. Just do what you love and stop caring about what people think about you.
Also, I noticed you tend to talk a lot about what men should do to be appealing but what about women? If men have to do so many efforts to be appealing, what about women? I have seen many women who just expect the perfect man while their only redeeming quality is having a vagina (if that can be considered as a quality in the first place). It takes more than that to attract a quality man if you ask me.
I cannot agree on anything here. I read the title and that did it for me.
There are no such thing as "real men". And there are no such thing as "real women" either. You exist? You're real. Then it's a matter of your own identity. At the most basic level, you are a living thing. You are a human. What more divisions do we need?
You are not to be restricted by ideas of what is the "best" you can be or what makes the "best" of your "kind". You can achieve your potential and be the best you can be. And that is to be human and not inhumane.
Be whoever you want to be but always strive to be the best of yourself you can. That's good enough. I appreciate that.
@David_Kek do you even realize how fucking juvenile all this useless arguing and bickering back and forth is becoming. Ffs I wish the fucking moderators around here do their fucking job and start banning some of these fucking accounts namely yours and discomfortzone for starters
@David_Kek 1. If you were genuinely out of your skin as a man and really felt like a woman instead of a man, I have no problem referring you to female pronouns. You are to be considered a woman then. Whether or not you're a biological female is irrelevant.
What I mean by there is no real man or real woman is that there is no concrete concept of what exactly a "real" man/woman is. What is "real"? In the most critical and literal perspective, there is no difference between a "real" man and a "real" woman. There may be with a given man and a given woman. Anything "real" is anything that can be proven to just exist. Men and women are humans and living things and we exist. That is the only thing that makes us real. We are all real in that sense. If there's a "real" man and a "real" woman, what are everyone else? Why do we suffocate ourselves with ideologies that prevent us to be the best of what we can be?
Each and every human is entitled to identify with whatever they want. The accuracy of identities is largely irrelevant as long as it is not in means of hate or disregard for anyone.
@David_Kek 2. In regard to you resorting to call people names like 'pathetic', here's something you might be familiar with: "Did anyone ever tell you that the moment you resort to ad hominems is the moment you lose the argument?"
I think this is a pretty good list. I think it is a man's job to protect and care for his family. When crap hits the fan you are going to be the one that your family is looking to for resolvement. Stuff like this gets called sexist which is kinda bs to be honest. Men and women are not the same and will never be the same. Most men are built bigger than most women. It's their responsibility to protect them. It's also why a lot of construction workers or more heavy labor jobs are done by men. As far as maintenance goes, most men like to do things such as work on cars and knowing how to do small repairs on cars or anything else is super handy and will save you a lot of money. I think a lot of guys lack these basic skills and come up with excuses for not having them, such as "I'm afraid I'll mess it up." Some guys are so afraid of failure that they don't even want to try and others are too lazy to attempt to learn.
I feel like what you did was select a singular group of people and put it on a pedestal for all men to strive for. This is the problem people. News flash being a "real man or real woman is bullshit." How about this. Be yourself. Imagine that? You like suites, thats wonderful. You hate em? Good for you. Same thing with women and dresses or any other category. How about be a real person. Self acceptance, confidence, holding moral ground, being a kind person and respecting oneself. People have to stop with the elitist my man or woman is the way a real man or woman should be. Think for yourself.
Disagree. I don’t own a coat, dress pants, dress shirt or tie. I don’t know how to tie one and don’t want to know. My career path never required one and if one ever was required it wasn’t a job I’d ever do anyway. Same goes for events. Several things more important than a fucking tie is real men aren’t afraid to cry, real men always tell the truth, real men take responsibility for their actions and real men pay their court ordered child support
I don't need a suit. My lifestyle does not require one. When am I going to wear one? Also, apart from knowing how to change a tire on the highway... why would I need to know how to be a auto mechanic when the money I make "providing" can pay for one? I'm not going to waste my time learning something that doesn't interest me in the slightest. Maybe some one should make a list about what a "real woman" is lol. Like: 1. Must know how to cook 2. Always puts out 3. Takes care of the children while we work 4. Owns a sexy dress... see how much outrage that causes haha.
That would be ideal, indeed, to have all these virtues packaged into one man but these are "traditional values" only a few care to posses because many others believe women are no longer worth it.
No offense honey... but when a woman says anything... anything at all about what a "REAL MAN" should be... i usually just throw it in the trash... whether she is right or wrong. My quote used to be (and still is) "if a woman tries to tell a man what a real man is, a real man is the one that tells her to shut the fuck up". Its part of my WWSD (what would she do) conviction. Every woman has her own definition of a "REAL MAN"... some similar, some are light years apart... so the term really doesn't exist. A real man is a creature with a penis. end of story. Now about that conviction... how many times have you seen a man write about a "REAL WOMAN"... and should any man even DARE to define what a "real" woman should be, he will be attacked from every fucking angle by every fucking creature with a vagina. know how i know? because when i call them out... same shit happens lol...
Im not saying your take is not interesting... im saying.. speak for yourself.
I mean honestly, women should know how to defend themselves too if men have to. It would be more ideal if no one had to defend themselves but women should be able to.
Women should also get a job ( house-making is also a job ) in being able to provide for themselves and for those they care for.
Women should also know how to dress for the occasion and not be awkward about it. I've known enough awkward women in social environments and it's not cute.
Women should also be self reliant.. Are you saying that women should be reliant on men? If a woman owns a car but a man doesn't need a car ( I live in Manhattan mind you.. I've never needed to drive in my life ) that I should know auto-repair but a woman who does own a car does not?
Apart from kink/sexuality shaming.. By your standards women should be monogamous too. In which case.. This isn't a 5 things real men should do.. This is just a 5 things people should do.
I actually agree with the bulk of what you say, except the suit thing, which is just horseshit. A real man should take responsibility for his life, and not pander to fucking women's arbitrary notions of what makes him worthy. He should be courageous and true to himself, not to society, not to you.
Let's not forget that men can turn this around, and ask whether the woman is a real woman, and conforms to the same kind of standards you impose upon men. You will probably find that you don't, because people are by nature aren't ideal or perfect. They're works in progress. There's always opportunity costs in terms of what they have.
Polarised conceptions are increasingly antiquated. In actually, we are indeed humans, and both genders should embrace aspects of both 'divine masculinity' and 'divine femininity'.
I 100% agree that men should be protectors, monogamous and commited, that they should be able to provide for themselves and those closest to them. But auto work? Nah. Thats silly. Not every man needs to know that shit. I've never been good at it or good at understanding all the different parts. Does that make me less of a man? Hel fucking no. I'm not gonna let some greasy piece of shit define my manhood.
And fuck ties. I hate them and I hate suits. They might look good on men, I'll admit to that. But they are uncomfortable, cumbersome and a waste of time. Ties are the biggest waste of time of them all.

That’s def a type lol. So you have a clear defining ‘type’ I see 😛
‘Spent time in the ring dojo’ 😂so basically you want a rAmbo lol. very few men in the grand scheme of things are even into that. It’s even chore these days to get people moving to exercise
auto parts, basic ya like refilling the wind shield fluids lol. Any kind of tinkering most men don’t know much. 2019 people are more focused on making money and paying someone to do that
Provider? There is more women in higher education now than men. Girls make too much to let them keep it all lol
I don't know. I can see where you're coming from but ultimately sounds a bit boomery.
Being able to stand up and defend at least yourself is certainly important, but no matter how big or strong you are, not many humans can take a gunshot without breaking a sweat. As for other situations, you are definitely right.
I'm not sure how working on cars or monogamy is linked to being a 'Real Man', but sure.
Otherwise I totally agree with everything else (although your other points are less on how to be a man and more tips on how to survive in life IMO)
I am already employed as a protector and provider for my 2 teen kids. Suit and tie , yes , don't own a car as you cannot park anywhere and we have superb , regular public transport here , therefore an unnecessary extra expense , but I'm pretty good at fixing stuff , fixed my washing machine after watching some how-to You Tube vids , fixed my motorbike myself in the past. " Real Men are not ashamed to love a woman or to express his love for her." ... maybe , but will she GENUINELY love him back. I don't see a lot of evidence of that. All I seem to hear is women bashing men , female work colleagues are rarely positive about " their man " , and " society " encourages women to view men as disposable , lesser beings. I will admit I am now incapable of ever loving a woman , after the marriage I endure and ended, it took it's toll mentally.
Yes, yes, and yes. After being put through the meat grinder of an awful marriage, the family courts, having the criminal courts used against me by my ex, I realize I am completely incapable of ever really trusting a woman again.
I date women for sex but I will never, ever truly love another women. Loving a woman is simply too dangerous.
I am capable of all five things. Though the issue is that the car thing is a little archaic. I have a degree in electronics, wrench on equipment professionaly and have a very well equipped set of workshops (I work in metal, wood and plastic. As well as having a very well equipped robotics lab in my garage) and my electric car has systems that I wouldn't touch. Cars are becoming increasingly complicated and take a full set of tools, techniques and skills that even seasoned mechanics are finding themselves unable to work on. So another skill every man nerds to have is the ability to say "I don't know how to do this." And hire a professional. There's competence and their is stubbornness.

You ought to criticise women and their femininity they don't possess.
1 Real men can also stand up to women who threatens him too.
2 I provide because I'm forced to pay child support but disagree that men need to.
3 Wusses wear suits and ties. I've never worn one in my 26 years and never will. How do you know what women like? You are 1 woman and know only 1 person's true likes.
Do you think men that wears suits and tie are social wusses? especially if they always have to wear them?
4 Real men ask for help when he knows nothing about cars like I do and aren't ashamed of not knowing how to fix them.
5 Real men don't fornicate and only have sex within marriage. Even if you are with 1 woman and unmarried, you are still a slut.
I do number 2 and number 5. Am I 40% manly?
5 Things Women Can Do'
1 Wear Dresses and Skirts only and not masculine clothes like pants
2 Learn that life begins at conception and not at birth
3 That men are not a woman's personal wallet or bank
4 Women can cook for men every so often after he has worked hard and not opt for take out so much
5 Women can learn that a man is not determined by his height
Maybe I'll start being critical of women and men in posts.
You need to point out flaws that women have too.

@Rob19777 Thank you!

You're entitled to your opinion, it still doesn't mean i can give birth
@David_Kek That has no relevance to anything in the topic at all.

I bet if her man cries, she would leave him in a heartbeat
@NorthwestRider her priorities are a little off
Well I know you are a weapons fan so that's a big bonus point.
Yes I am. What I lack in your dress code I make up for in mechanical aptitude. I’m a licensed aircraft mechanic
I also think that she would leave a guy if he makes less money lol
I suspect that she might be a gold digger
@reptocarl see I feel that breaks even then sir💛

girls should be able to do their own car maintenance, or at least be able to change their own tyre. or not own a car. yes its that simple girls.
1. loosen wheel nuts while car is on the ground. (lefty loosey)
2. place jack on the chassis point.

Lol anyone who has common sense could figure it out it’s just we think men should be able to do it too (idk that’s just my opinion🤷♀️🙃)
@Hot_potato123 some girls can and do but a lot of girls would rather a man do it instead. so they dont have to do the heavy lifting.
That’s def a type lol. So you have a clear defining ‘type’ I see 😛

Real men are the people who have a penis

What about the wahmen with a penis?
Nah. There is no such thing as “real men” or “real women”. You’re just a human, and all that should be required is you’re able to take care of yourself and any children you might have. Taking care of responsibilities
I can do all of the above.

Agreed with this. Polarised conceptions are increasingly antiquated. In actually, we are indeed humans, and both genders should embrace aspects of both 'divine masculinity' and 'divine femininity'.
I think I will tack this onto my own answer also.
The benefits of being a hard working man. I can do or go wherever I want, on my time off.
We may be humans but you need to be a machine if you ever want to survive

Why the fuck does no one ever mention that a real man has good control over his sexuality? That's one thing forgotten by many of us and a lot of men who left us with valuable wisdom in past have talked about its importance.
please expand on this more
@manmeat good control over his sexuality = he always remembers to say "no homo"
@manmeat little to no porn/masturbation. Focusing on women/relationships in the right timing. There is nothing to boast about being a horny beast. A real strong man is one who can take that beast in him. It is a huge wastage of energy that could be used elsewhere. It's sad to see where men have come today. Pouring a crap load of money on watching a cam model strip on screen, being worried about their penis size out of thousands of other things to worry about, centering entire life on women yet cheating on their wives when they actually get a loyal partner... I tried that once thinking she was doing the same, wrong
@Jon1108 women shouldn't do them either, tbh.
