What does it mean when a guy says he thinks you are a total babe?

Is it something guys say to girls all the time, or does it actually mean something? This particular guy friend has never said it to me before until now and doesn't usually say it to girls which is why I was a little taken aback when he said it.

LOL girl, I really like this guy and I tend to overanalyze when I like someone. xP I just want to know whether guys think cute or hot when they call a girl this, because there's a big difference between the two in my opinion haha

well one thing i've learned from my long 20 years of life lol is that guys RARELY want to be friends with a girl unless they want to be more than "friends"..of all the "guy friends" that i've had..98% of them have expressed feeling for me sooner or later soo it a very good chance that he likes you too :))
