Guy's Behavior

My friend says that she caught my crush looking at me numerous amounts of times where he would look at me then he would look away quickly. Why?

My friends notice this all the time where he will look at me then when she notices him looking at me he'll look away really quickly. She said that he does that very often, not too sure why because he's told all of my friends that he doesn't like me. A couple years ago he told my one good friend that he might have seen a connection with me and him. Neither of us did anything though because I never knew what that meant to him because he flirts with a lot of girls at my work. He also told my friend that he's been talking to me less on purpose. I've been trying to talk to him about all of this because apparently at work there has been rumours going around that him and I are dating. His friends always ask me if we are dating. Sometimes they'll say stuff when were around eachother such as "e" that's what will call him he's not even paying for you? And my crush was standing right behind me. We don't talk at work.. Were very quiet around each other sometimes he'll look at me then look at the ground it's super weird!
