This guy friend of mine started saying "You're precious to me" while hugging me and kissing me on the forehead. We're not in a relationship or anything. We have admitted to each other that we like each other, and we kiss and stuff, an he says he loves me. It's complicated I guess. But I don't know if he really truly likes me or not, and I don't want to get hurt

The two of you need to have a straightforward and frank discussion and decide exactly what your relationship is. Undefined relationships often end up in someone being emotionally hurt. You either need to be boyfriend and girlfriend or friends. None of the middle ground stuff. None of the affection and flirting and lovey dovey-ness without the dating status. If he isn't willing to be in a relationship now then all that needs to be cut off completely for now. Because friends don't treat each other in that way.
