Why did he keep kicking me under the table?

So there's this guy and we talk a lot and basically annoy each other all the time and make fun of each other's height (he's very tall and I'm very short) and we're both 17. Our teacher sent us to the back of the class today because we weren't taking the test and everybody else in that class was. So I didn't go to the far back and he forced me to come back there and showed me a chair I could sit on since it's comfortable. I sat there on the same table as him as he did his homework and I was on my phone. Suddenly he started kicking me and I told him to stop by he won't and kept laughing, I kicked him back and at one point, I could feel his leg rubbing against mine. Then I put up my leg on another chair so he can't reach it and kick me but him being so tall somehow managed to get his foot there and started kicking again. Then my teacher heard us laughing and moved me. But what was this?
