What does it mean when a guy hides behind his friend when you pass him?

I got the guts to talk to him last thurdsay but when he got back to his table, i scrapped then i glanced over and he was facing my direction and hiding behind his friend looking at me. Another time this happened was we passed eachother and he hid behind his friend and said 'great cover' out loud. Another time was when we passed eachother, he hid behind his two friends looking straight at me. Does he think i'm creepy or does he like me? He stares at me a lot and tries to get attention by being an idiot, is that for me? by the way, we are both juniors in HS, have 2 classes together, lunch, same bus, same neighborhood, same stop.
