Will Shy guys purposely act uninterested? HELP?

So, he's extremely shy around girls and has never had experience with girls before.
He only hangs out with his group of guy friends. We talked for a month on chat, and he consistently replies and seems interested.

But shy guys, if u're really really shy with girls, would u act not interested pursposely? And why?

Yes and no. I'm not all shy guys but I am extremely shy and I don't really dare to speak to the girl I like in public — I saw her while walking through a train, said "hi" and immediately had a quite major freakout so I just kept going to not break down in the middle of a train. I mostly try to hide my feelings for her, although she's caught me staring multiple times with no apparent reaction, but I don't really face her, ever. I talk loads online though, I'll telll her everything. But I really don't tell anyone about my feelings, like @John_Doesnt said that's basically what being shy is. That's not to really say I act uninterested on purpose — if she starts talking to me I won't just brush her off and ignore her further.

I'm super shy. We don't want to face rejection. It hurts a shy guy pretty bad. Major ego blow. We'll shut down for years after something like that.

No, but you'll need to be patient until he can open up. Most of us do. It may take a few dates until trust builds, but once it does, most shy guys tend to be the most loyal friends you'll ever have. It's how we're wired.

Yes, I try not to let women know my feelings for them. In fact I try to hide my feelings from everyone, because that's what being shy is all about.
