Why did he blush and look away when he saw me?

I hadn't seen this guy for awhile but I saw him today and we locked eyes and he just looked down and acted like he didn't see me. It felt weird because I thought we were kind of friends... is he just shy or does he not like me like I thought he did? :(

Yes, we were both walking down the hall in college. He was with someone else, but that shouldn't matter because we know each other so it's normal to say hi at least, or so I thought.
