Does "maybe" mean yes or no?

A guy was texting me today and then he congratulated me on my job and a difficult class I passed. And said we should go out to celebrate over drinks. So I said ok but I think we should plan it out so there's no conflicts. He texted me saying he had to go and maybe next weekend. does maybe mean yes or no?

How many times did he use maybe?

Cause some times people use maybe instead of yes or in extremes like me its also used as a "no." Which usually ends up with me geting punched by my girlfriend till I give a real response. ( yes I've gotten bruises but I never hit back cause I'm bad a descion making and I know it's my fault.)
