I had a friend who was dating a girl for about 2 years or less, and she started lying to him about little things. When he wanted to hang out she would lie, when he asked what she were doing, she would lie. She just kept lying and lying, seeing less of him, until he found out she cheated on him. I don't know how things go from great one moment to downhill, but that's what happened. So I answer your question based on such knowledge.
But your question is awfully vague; under what circumstances did she tell you she was sick?
The only way you can really know for sure then is to ask her straight up. If you know she is lying to you and you have the evidence to back it up then she will have a "deer caught in the headlights" look if she is hiding something from you. But give her the benefit of the doubt and see what she has to say before you jump down her throat about it.
Sometimes when someone needs space or needs some solitude they will tell a lie to spare your feelings. Even if she did explain that she need some time to herself she wouldn't want you to think that there was something wrong in the relationship. We never fully understand what the other person means by solitude until we are needing it ourselves.
