Guys, What does it mean when a guy says ‘I’ll be gentle’?

I was talking to my crush (now boyfriend) and I was telling him I’m really shy so he knew what to expect when we meet and he said ‘don’t worry I’ll be gentle’ what does that mean? Also we were once talking about him going down on me and I said that I’d probably b really nervous or shy and he said he would be gentle. What does he mean?

It sounds like he wants to not only be gentle in a sense that he'll treat you with respect and great care in the relationship but that if you two were ever going to have sex with each other, that he'll be patient and as gentle as you want him to be until you feel comfortable with him going down on you. He doesn't want to give you the idea of thinking he'll be impulsive or rough with you in the relationship, that he vows to be respectful of your boundaries.
