My crush didn’t follow me back on Instagram... What does this mean?

So me and him aren’t really friends, but we used to sit next to each other last year and we were always flirting and teasing each other. This year we don’t really talk; but i’ve noticed that he does stare at me a lot. I decided to follow him on Instagram and maybe text him. After a few minutes I saw that he accepted my request but didn’t follow back. This sorta irritated me because he follows so many other girls and people he doesn’t even know, even their “spam” accounts but not me. Am i just being petty?

At the risk of sounding old and grumpy, I will say that all these Instagram shananigans are not indication of anything. If you are interested in going out with him, start a conversation. Then either suggest you grab a coffee or ask for his phone number and start texting. Sure Instagram can be used in a fun/flirty way but I would not read much into it.

Maybe he was busy. And he accepted but didn’t think to follow. Maybe he didn’t recognize your username?
