What does this 'change' mean?

So there's this guy, let's call him CJ, he came over and before we were friends who were starting to get closer friends. At the time I sort of had a fix thing going on with one of his best friends. Now that guy and me are totally over due to some things. After I told CJ about what happend he started sending 'x' and things to get even closer where it came so to that point that he came over. It was super fun and we were being pretty close with each other but nothing really happend except kind of cuddling. Then after he left I was really confused. A couple of friends talked to him and they assured me if anything would be to happen that he's a good guy. But then on my sweet sixteen he was getting all close with a good friend of mine 'till she left. When she left all of a sudden he was being close to me again. (which I thought was kind of odd but Okey). Than another good friend was still here and stole his sweat shirt because it was just lying around. He was like' I have to get it back I only Ave 2 sweat shirts etc.) then went outside with a couple of friends and I was so smart to not put on a jacket. So I went like 'can I borrow your sweatshirt (which he was still carrying in his hands), I'm really cold' a'd he said 'fine' and gave it. Afterwards when he and his friend was leaving he said I could have it, 2 hours after I mentioned its a girlfriend thing. (at the end I did not keep it because my mom said I had to give it back) but now I'm even more confused. Why did I get to keep the sweater and my friend didn't?
Also maybe a few things you should know he gave my mom a hi and goodbye kiss the first time he came over. We were each others best friends on sc for 2 weeks and all that kind of stuff.
I'm really sorry for the long explanation but I really hope you could help me out that would be so nice. I'm so confused for a couple of weeks now...
