this guy who’s close friends with my ex slid into my DMs and we’ve been talking lately. It confused me as to why he’s doing it and that made me curious to ask y’all?

In this situation, it's probably the case that he found you attractive while you were dating his friend and he wants to see how far he can go with you. If it was just platonic, he would not have waited until you were broken up.

It depends on their attitude and how close they are. The guy texting you now might not care what your ex thinks, or maybe your ex has already said he's cool with it

I know that's not really helpful, but typically, if there's a mutual friend, it's easier for us guys to approach a girl because we think it's less creepy and our odds are better.

I'd think if your ex didn't bring you around his friend, then they're not that close. Bro code only applies to close friends and the rules can be changed

Sometimes my intentions are purely platonic or supportive. They have also been more than that. Or maybe it's just because I need info and I know this person is like the Yoda on the topic. However, if a guy does it to me, it never feels anything but sexual. Not that it necessarily is, but that's how it feels.
