A guy sent me pink tulip emojis, what does it mean (see more details + context below) ?

So there's this dude in college that I like but we never talked before (we're in different study groups and we don't have common friends), although I always notice that he's looking at me and stuff, and we make lots of eye contacts.

Some days ago, I got lucky enough to have a very legit and important reason to text him, even though our texts only lasted for about 15mins, he was super chill, nice and cute which kind of suprised me because, well, we've never talked before. Oh and also, the conversation was pretty much done on my part but he still didn't leave me on read and added on something even when it wasn't needed you know, sadly I couldn't do the same because I had nothing more to say and I didn't want to make it obvious (kinda regret it now.)

This happened like a few days before the New Year so I thought why not wish him a happy new year since we've talked recently prior to it, which I ended up doing! When he anwsered back thanking me and wishing me back the same thing, he also added 2 pink tulips emojis.
As I thanked him and apologized for anwsering late because I fell asleep, he only anwsered with two smiling emojis which I didn't know what to anwser to because I kinda see emojis as either "I don't know what to say but I don't want you to think that I left you on read so here are some emojis" or they're basically a conversation ender, and I'm a very shy and awkward gal myself so.. lol!

What do you guys think about this? And I'm sorry if it's a long post, this is my first time using this site

Also, if anyone has ideas on what I couldv'e said to make the conversation longer without it being too obvious, or how should I react in real life if I meet him now that we've talked a little bit, pleaase share them with me!

I think he likes you. And you're right, it's kind of hard to keep the convo going especially since you don't have any classes together or aren't friends. I'm assuming you will be starting a new semester when you head back to college after this break? Ask him something like "ready for next semester? reallly don't want to head back 😫" something like that

Thank you for your anwser, I will try saying that, but I wish he would try talking to me as well instead of it just being him constantly starting the conversation (which I don't mind actually, but it would be nice :( )

I can't help you with conversation skills as mine are also lacking but I would assume he likes you (a quick Google search says they represent youth, springtime, or female genitalia)
