My boyfriend just said ‘she’s aight uno’ about another girl when I was laying right next to him, is it valid to be upset over this?

So my boyfriend (21m) and I (19f) had just watched love island and he said how he wondered how the previous contestants were doing. So he looked up Maura and we were just going though her posts seeing how many likes she still got and after going through a few photos he goes ‘aye she’s aight uno’. I was taken a bit of guard so didn’t say anything but when I started acting off he apologised saying he was ‘teasing me’.

I try not to get offended by stuff like this but i really can’t shake it off. The fact that his girlfriend was laying right next to him and he says something like that just baffles me. Am I overreacting or is that really strange?

I can see why this would put you off a bit, but you have to keep something in mind...

Men (and I'm generalizing here) are not compkex creatures. We say what we're thinking & we move on. When he said that, he was probably giving his honest opinion & was done. There's a good chance that he didn't pit thought into how his comment would sound, how you might react to it, how it would make you feel, etc. We are not usually performing any kind of abstrsct thought, most men can't. When you started acting off, he apologized & said he was teasing you because your reaction caught him off guard.

Yes, talk to him. But keep in mind, he may not know or understand what he did wrong.

It seems like he was only tryna get a reaction out of you but not in a way where you would have to be worried, but if he does this often, then you should sit and have a talk with him.
