Be forewarned this is gonna be long.
In the UK the people dubbed "gypsies" are the most common culprits behind roofing & house repair scams - typically aimed at seniors that they either weasel into believing needed or intimate into believing needed. They are the ones who'll move into relatively nice areas & trash the place. And other unsavory things.
Now the thing is, like many "gypsy" groups in Europe, the "gypsies" in the UK aren't quite legit anymore. They're not - to be blunt - "pure".
When many people think of UK gypsies they think of pasty-white-burning-like-lobster individuals. Those are Travelers & they aren't just limited to Ireland (you have them in the Scottish Lowlands for another main area of their ancestry). They're something entirely different. To be blunt many of them descend from one of two causes - Irish & Scottish who are cast from their homes during the English settlement & refused to be made into serfs in their own country so thus took to wandering or from pre/post Industrial Revolution, pre/post Depression (don't think the depression afflicted the US only) & pre/post War I/II individuals who couldn't "cut it" if you would and cut their losses took to wandering (aka they went off the grid & around the bend).
They're not legitimate gypsies if by gypsy you mean romani - that's been more or less concretely proven genetically I believe now.
The UK did have legitimate romani "gypsies". The Woods family - yes there's truth to old Ronnie Woods claims of his romani ancestry - were well regarded back in the day for their musical talents. Just as how actual romani gypsies were tinkers (like their European counterparts being skilled in both metalwork & horses) & even served as bards/messengers between towns regarding important news.
And someone couldn't confuse a legitimate UK romani gypsy with a Traveler unless they were blind & stupid back a couple of generations ago. There's old pictures of legitimate romani gypsies in the UK - 1920s-1940s - that any can google or I'll find again & post links if desired who like their European romani counterparts are dark of skin and exotic looking compared to lobster-burning-pasty-white Travelers & regular old Brits. I know this personally because my father's mother's mother was UK romani gypsy from a reasonable metalworking family (it's from her my father & I interacted an extremely high artistic tendency, a trait of UK romani) & she couldn't be confused for let's say my maternal great-grandmother (Irish) if their lives depended on it.
My father, in fact, when he went to Florida back in the 1970s had government officials (driver's license) joke how they had to empathize he was caucasian on his license otherwise he'd be thought of as a "black man" (he tans ridiculously dark but come winter you wouldn't think him of anything but a Brit with a slight olive-like complexion).
Anyway like many European romani - thanks to the Nazis killing/sterilizing a number of romani & other countries predominant anti-gypsy mentality - UK romani diminished numbers meant they had to intermarry. And this has been proven by research studies back decades ago. A kid of a gypsy parent and a non-gypsy parent is more prone to be a misfit (criminal, etc.) than anything because, in basic summary, they don't fit in in gypsy culture & they don't fit into "normal" culture either.
Have enough of these misfits to reproduce among themselves through generations & you get the typical "gypsy" of today - a "good for nothing" thug that is little more than a born criminal in many people's eyes. As esotericstory said the historical gypsy was nothing like the ones now.

Modern gypsies make their money off of scamming people or cheating them. Many have shady car lots and screw over the buyers. Gypsies have a Matriarch who is in charge of all the money and property for the extended family. So when a member screws someone they can't be sued because they have no assets. I know of one group of gypsies who rented a house and put in a brand new kitchen and some other improvements and didn't pay the contractor. So the contractor put a lien on the house and the people who owned the house got stuck with the bill. Also gypsies interbreed and have a bunch of hereditary problems. From the ones I have know they are terrible people. I think this is one of the reasons Hitler sent them to death camps with the Jews.

You can read tens of thousands of different stories about people from all over the world who have been scammed by these traveling parasites. It's against their honor code to do an honest day's work. They like to target single women and old people, offer to do some odd job for a certain price, (very cheap! great deal!) but they do a crappy job on purpose, cut corners, usually make the problem worse than it was before they started, then they come around with more of their cousins and try to re-negotiate the price they agreed to initially. Suddenly they are asking for way more money and they act more threatening, just trying to scare people into paying them to go away. It's despicable.
They do this in a given area until enough people complain to the police, then when police start poking around asking questions, they pick up and move to a new area.
Idiotic women think that being rootless vagabonds is soooo romantic, but they are nothing but parasites and troublemakers who don't care about hurting people or getting a bad reputation because they can always just leave and go somewhere else. they talk about their victims as if they deserve to be cheated, just like Jews talk about non-Jews as "goyim," and "shiksas."

They treat other people like their purpose in life is to be willing victims, and if one of their victims complains, they are being racist! Bigots! Big meanies! They act like people are just making it all up and have nothing better to do than complain about poor innocent gypsies for no reason.
Nobody would have a problem with gypsies if they minded their own business and didn't bother anyone. But they can't make any money on their own, they have to scam it from trusting outsiders. Actually, they COULD make money on their own, but they have a whole philosophy that they are too good to do honest work. Hard work is for stupid people, and they are so smart, so they are allowed to lie, cheat, and steal from their stupid victims.
They act friendly and nice, but inside, they are cursing you the whole time they talk to you, like a sociopath.
In the southern part of the U. S., there have been organized gypsy groups who have conspired to rip people off. They would cheat people when working on their houses, etc. A few years back, a couple of Gypsies conspired to make it look like a girl had been raped on Disney property, and they were planning of suing Disney for big bucks. She has been raped, but it was planned, and done by her cousin. The police saw something in the situation that didn't add up, and they got a confession.

oh i saw this one and commented down where holidaze blamed cher - i said don't forget about stevie nicks. anyway i didn't write a long-ass comment as i have been known to do in the past (also known as blathering) because i had an albertan aboriginal woman (and i don't know her tribe and that is shameful but i was just a little girl and my parents couldn't ever remember the idiots!) and she told me when she held me in her lap when i was 2 and 3 - she told me i belonged to the gypsies and that one day my people would come and take me back. and gypsy images and motifs and traveling troubadours and speaking in kitchen tongues have followed (haunted?) me my whole life. no i know what most of the world thinks of gypsies but they have always been magical creatures to me. but that doesn't mean i can't laugh at the dressed-up fools pretending - cuz those folk are funny! if you study the true Romani (think vampire people and impalers and the like) - gypsies were very magical people... they were marked!
Because of their general behaviour as a "society". Bar few examples, they are notoriously trying to avoid work, live on welfare, and breed like rabbits despite the fact they can't support themselves. They resort to crime instead, live in filthy colonies and generally are a burden to society. They frown upon decent work.

They are thieves, beggars and scammers, all the while they also own lots of property. Gypsy prostitutes have to surrender their money in places like France, so their families can buy property in Romania and so on. They also commit crimes in neighbourhoods they want to buy houses in so the market value of these houses goes down. 1/10 of Hungary's population consists of Gypsies.
Now that said, there are gypsies, and historically as well, who were not actually all that bad.

We'll they leave trash everywhere they stay they stay on private and public property where they shouldn't. They have horses and don't exactly look after them amazingly for example putting them on a public grass area. Had one just wondering around near where I live.

Gypsies are "Roma". They're a race without their own homeland. To make a VERY long story short... they've been persecuted here, there and everywhere (within Eastern Europe mostly... because that's where they hail from)
But basically... they're a nomadic people, who hundreds of years ago, were given totally racist stereotypes (most of which you named here)... so you would have found hatred for the "shifty, thieving, sexually lascivious" gypsy all over eastern Europe.
While being a "gypsy" and being Jewish have nothing in common (so far as I know anyway)... and I don't know how well you know your pre World War 2 Europan history... but... Jews basically took it up the ass (figuratively) no matter where they were found (in Europe)... all the "stereotypical Jewish racist caricatures used to be perfectly acceptable... EVERYWHERE... pre World War 2.
