Guy's Behavior

This guy I'm talking to is very hot and cold, what should I do?

Me and this guy both like each other. we flirted a lot during class, and he was very nice to me, but we never talked outside of school. Then, once this quarantine started, we started talking to each other, and sending selfies over Snapchat. I am honestly really bad at the talking stage. I'm too chicken to ever say bold stuff, and it usually ends with the guy not talking to me anymore. It was going good for a few weeks, and then suddenly he started sometimes opening my snaps and not replying. I took that as him not wanting to talk to me anymore (like an idiot), and stopped replying to him as frequently as I was. Then, on his private story, he posted this tik-tok that said, "When you wait for her to start the conversation for once and she doesn't so y'all never talk again :(((" I knew that was targeted at me so I answered and said, "I see what you did there" and he said, "Just wanted to see what would happen" So, after that we kept talking, until today when he started opening my snap and not saying anything. It's very hot and cold. I want to say something to let him know that yes, I am interested. I know we are in quarantine, so I should just get it out and say it, but I'm really nervous for some reason. I figure maybe I could ask for his number or something? Or do you think I should just come out and say, "look I like you, and I'm not very good at the talking stage, so..." If you were a guy, how would you feel if a girl did this? Thanks!
