How long shall I give him to text me again?

weve been talking for a few months, never met but he fell ill with corona virus and had a lot going on in his life. So we spoke less and less. Then he ignored me for 2 days, spoke again for a while and it happened again. He texted me saying he's not in the right mindset atm but doesn't wanna loose this opportunity with me as we have a strong connection. Anyway I replied and agreed so I left him to it. Then I texted him today to say I'm going to move forward as he's been ignoring me for 3 days days.. but i also said when he's ready feel free to hit me up, and take care.. he responded with its fine, i understand, I dont expect you to wait around for me, and take care of yourself. x
I haven't replied and I won't.
How long shall I wait for him to text me again, thats if he will.. i just dunno. But I've never gone 2 hours without texting him back, so im wondering whether he'd actually miss me talking, as he's always said he misses me when we dont talk.. i dunno.
Shall i give him a week? Or 2 weeks? Or even a month? And if i hear nothing ill block him and move on fully.. its such a shame as we're literally the same person and have a ton in common. I dont know what to do!):

Message him! What's with the waiting games I hate that stuff I get the bad heads pace thing and sometimes you feel like you don't want to talk to anyone. i ignore people not becuase i don't want to talk to them but just because i don't know what to say then i get a message a day or 2 later and it tends to make me feel a little better becuase i know they were thinking about me then I reply. That's just me I got issues tho

Yeah, i feel like if I message him back, im annoying him as he clearly needs time.. and thats what im going to give him! Then message in a week or two to see how he's doing.

Yeah that works but don't just give up and block him if he doesn't message you would suck to miss out on a good thing that's just my opinion tho I don't know the guy

I agree hun. He never said he doesn't feel the same way either, so im assuming he's interested but its just not the right time and I don't wanna lose contact with him completely.. but i know he needs his space and time to himself!(:

Message him, don't wait. If you think there a chance and he's not ready remain friends , talk about life , or things that happen in the day, but don't cut it off cause he's sorting though things.

I would be more than happy to be mates, but he ignores me for days, I dont wanna feel like im waiting around for a text. I haven't texted him back though, but ill check in on him in a week or so.. think time is what he needs! x

So he doesn't get back to you right away, that fine, especially if your moving forward. Its also a good thing for you not to reply right away it shows you have more going on in your life then waiting by the phone. But if your not replying because your wanting to test him then thats not a mate situation thats a you want is attention.

you're right tbf. Im just an overthinker, thats my problem. I think i will give him some time though as I know that's what he wants, thats why I said ill check on him in a week or so. I feel as though thats the right thing to do! Nor do I want him to think I've got nothing going on in my life!

I overthink also so im experienced in matters like this lol, text him in a few days , you don't even have to invest much into it find a funny meme and send it to him , say thougt this might make you laugh , and leave it at that. It can lead to him start a convo with you, but also don't pressure him to reply.
