Is he trying to impress me because he likes me?

There’s this guy that I am friends with for about 5 months now and he has started talking about how he gets income from multiple sources, has a large apartment, (but now wants to buy a house), goes to the gym, diets etc. This made me wonder if he’s saying this to feed his ego or if he wants to impress me because he likes me and wants to show me that he’s a stable guy who has his life together.

It is hard to say for sure. But I think he is massaging his ego more than wanting you to like him. Because if he is this talkative towards you and he seems like an extrovert type. He would've already confessed to you if he likes you. If he has not been flirtatious towards you. then he thinks of you as a friend. But that is just my opinion.

He seems like a really sweet guy and is suuuper thoughtful too

If you are certain he is the sweet and thoughtful type then I do think he likes you from what you said. If you like him why not just find out and confess to him or send him signals you are interested in him.

I should try to send him more clearer signals because I tried to signal him before but I guess they just went over his head loll
