Is he finding reasons to talk to me?

I've liked this guy for a while now, and im pretty sure he likes me too, the only thing is that he has never made the first move, which almost makes me doubt if he's really into me.
Last time we were together (in a group setting), he made an excuse to get really close to me, to show me something and ask a question. he hasn't gotten *that* close in my personal space before and it caught me off guard, but also felt very natural. then while we were talking some people were calling his name and he didn't even notice them because he was talking with me.
(mind you we are between mid 20s to 30s in age, but both either shy or scared to make things awkward).
would a man go out of his way to get close to me, make eye contact and conversation with a woman he isn't interested in?

Given your description. He’s a shy guy. Getting close and ignoring friends is a strong indicator that he likes you.

With intimacy you’ll likely have to take the lead. At least until he is comfortable with you. You can also try being verbally clear. That you want him to initiate and welcome it. When the urge takes him.

He probably won’t be a grand romantic. But will listen and show affection in his own way.

I think he is very interested in you, he likes having you as a friend, but might not like how things will change if it is thought of as a relationship vs friends. Most guys want to stay friends with their woman friends, but a relationship raises the expectations and it is more difficult to remain a friendship afterwords. I think he does want to see where things will go with you. Unless you ask him directly it will be difficult to find the answer.

well we aren't really 'friends' we know eachother through mutual others. i guess the nature of our group would make it awkward to be very direct in front of everyone about his feelings (if he has em) but when we get moments alone he definitely takes heed.. and we have made eye contact across the room that feels electric and like time slowed down for the 5 seconds we were looking into each others eyes. very crazy... but i refuse to make the first move i want to be courted ! lol
