Guy's Behavior

He's involved with her, but still checks up on me, why?

Long story, very short. I have had a friend, for some time now, to whom I have liked. But over the course of years, we just kind of drifted depart. And every since, I stopped and cut the sex off between him and I, he has pulled away. He's very inconsistent and I barely hear from him. And when we do talk, it's typically casual talk. Like he don't call me nicknames anymore, or very little, he may. but anyways. I feel like, at times, that he is avoiding me. But anyways, I gathered some info and feel that there is another female, to who he is more connected too, and possible may like. But my thing is, if them two are involved, with each other in a sexual and romantic way. Then why is he still checking up on me. Like, I noticed, the only two things that he stop doing is. Anytime that I removed him from messenger typically he would at me back. But, now nothing, and also at other times he would initiate conversations. But now nothing. And the only thing that he does do, is typically still look and read my new feeds or post. Like, he is still willing to meet up for some fun on the side. But it's clear that he don't want me anymore. Like, at the beginning it was very different. And even with this other girl. He stays adding Other Woman. I just don't understand, why he don't keep and deal with one chick. But anyways, why is he still in ways staying in touch with me if he ain't feeling me no more?
