Met someone at the library. He was moving far & gave me his📱number. Decent guy but should I contact him-can anything bad happen 👀?

So as I said I met this person at the library he was kind and cool and I enjoyed talking to him & I was almost kind of disappointed to find out he was leaving in a few days. I mean we JUST met so I wasn’t attached or anything lol but he was “different”. Anyhow he expressed deep interest in continuing to get to know each other more than once then gave me his number. I think he could tell there was no way I was giving out mine.

Normally, when I give contact info it’s on line and it’s my email not my number. When I meet stranger we talk but I do not give out info. I did not grow up using a phone I only bought one when I was 19 (21) now even tho I’d been living on my own for 5 years already. Point bring phones were never communication wise a central part of my life and Exchanging numbers doesn’t automatically feel normal to me. I’m uncertain as to the significance.

I am not asking this question romantically. He expressed interest in friendship at least I think 🤔 so that’s all I’d be into either way.

The way he REALLY was Interested in staying in touch and just acted kind of enchanted makes me uneasy— as in did he have some nefarious purpose and then even if so what can be accomplished with a phone number 🤷🏻‍♀️

On the other hand if he’s really just an interesting guy who is a bit eccentric and just wanted to get acquainted and could use a friend in a huge life changing circumstance, I feel bad ignoring him so idk… 😐

Hi 👋🏻 just to be clear I’m not worrying about getting hurt or hurting him. He’s thousands mikes away but we are not dating nor do we plan to -it’s just a friendship thing. I’m concerned about giving out my number snd seriously csn snyobe really do anything with a phone number. Perhaps I oit to have out this under technology. I think I confused matters bu putting under guy behavior. I’m not “ into” him. He related to him as a seemingly decent person, is all 😊

First let me clarify a doubt, he's into you. No guy makes the awkward effort to approach a stranger he's not intersted in just to be friends.

Second the fact that he's moving is cause for concern. I know a thing or 2 about being an ocean away 😉 it'll turn into an endless conversation with no prospect of going anywhere, now if you're ok with that then by all means but I'd say if you wanted to get real value for your time and energy find someone who's living within your vicinity as there is a chance to have something more than a chat

it's entirely possible that he's not from out of town and just said that to increase your interest in him so it didn't seem like he was coming on too strong

i had a phase when i would make it a point to not ask for a number and instead give mine out making sure they'd call if they were interested

Bad things can always happen not everybody's an angel but always trust your gut and if your gut tells you something's up walk away don't even hesitate to say no and take off. Your safety is the most important thing and if he's after sex it'll show very quickly but I wouldn't be around him without being in public or somewhere that there's other people for a while to get to know him
