Advice - he seems distant?

I’m not needy or anything so please don’t bite my head off. So usually his pretty chatty, will sometimes text me first etc but this week his been distant. He lost his job 2 weeks prior to this week, I saw him that week he lost his job he seemed ok in himself when I see him and was still texting me fine till this week. The beginning of this week he messaged me very late he said he had an accident, was in hospital and has sprained his ankle they put him on crutches for it. I obviously wished him well he said thanks etc. It then went two days of radio silence so I thought we’ll I’m gonna see how his coping here, I then fell sick myself this week and told him & he said he hoped I felt better and said his coping. It’s now been two days of radio silence again. It could be me just over thinking things but something deffo seems off here.
I obviously don’t want to smother the guy but would love some advice?

Maybe he needs time to sort out his life, some guys like me we do that in private and "break" off social connections for some times because of that. Not willingly but because our priorities change we don´t open social media apps that often and therefore seem to be distant.
Maybe you could therefore something like: "I hope you´re getting well soon, message me again if you´re ready to talk again." So it´s up to him getting back on track while showing him that you´re still interested without putting him under pressure.

He lost his job, also had an accident. Don't overthink. Just support him. Maybe he's busy trying to find a new job or something.

He is going through a rough time. Just check up on him everyday, even if you guys don’t have a long conversation. Let him know you care and that you are there for him. :)
