He’s 100% right, you two should make a move on your own, as adults. Not everyone enjoys being matchmaker or the middleman, especially when it comes to friends, so there’s nothing wrong with him not wanting to be in that position. It’s not even like you’re asking him to simply introduce you two anyway, but to hook you up which takes extra work and he doesn’t want to do it. So why not just respect that and take matters into your own hands?
