I don't know, personally I'm the type to just walk away and ignore rude comment but if a guy did that, I might think he's quite a pussy for doing so then again if I like him I don't want to see him being hurt.
I guess the best option would be threatening the rude guy and the rude guy being too afraid to start a real fight and getting away.

no starting a fight is super unnecessary and I would not want that. I’m an adult, if the dude is using words then I can speak for myself and I’d appreciate if my man would trust that I got it. but I would want him to be aware, and also know when to have my back and when to let me handle things.

I don't know... Some support but I can defend myself at least verbally so support and then him be like, not impressed but at least proud of me for standing up for myself.
