You did all that you could, don’t beat yourself up for that. There’s not much else you could’ve done - You suggested some calming activities, and waited for him patiently to calm down. It was best to get yourself out of the situation if he was being aggressive and angry, even if it wasn’t directed at you.
Now, I think he does have anger issues, however, I don’t know if it was just that one time he was angry, or if he does that all the time? Usually, when things really bother you throughout the day, and then losing a video game, it might have just pushed him to the edge. But he should learn how to manage his anger better. It should emotional immaturity for him. I suggest that he should at least talk to a therapist or talk with you about what is bothering him instead of taking it out on things.

I think you handled it right. Find out later why he acted like that and DO NOT let him give a non answer.
I'd have stayed and got them tontalk it out. Nonetheless, it doesn't affect his opinion of you I'm sure.
