Why would my boyfriend ask me if I’m jealous of his ex, because he said he misses her and I asked him if it’s true?

He said he misses her in an argument …. a week or so ago we made back up and he said “I miss my pinto bean” (his old nickname for her) and I said to him, is it true you miss your pinto bean and he said “no I only miss my family”

(he hasn’t seen them in a while as he’s living away from his home town) but after I asked him if he still misses his pinto bean. he said “no I only miss my family” “why do you keep bringing that up? You jealous or some shit? I have never once mentioned her to you get over that shit”
